Why do you need a Wellness Program?
There are a plethora of reasons on why you need a wellness program; healthcare costs, employee health risks, employee morale, productivity and employee retention just to name a few. With national turnover rates over 16% employers must find innovative ways to inspire their staff. Whether you are a Fortune 500 or a "mom and pop", your employees are your greatest asset. People are loyal to a company when they feel that the company truly cares about them. There is an amazing trend of wellness programs occurring in the workplace. However, if your sink springs a leak, what do you do? You call a specialist, a plumber! Why wouldn't you call a professional to facilitate your corporate wellness program?
Healthcare is on the rise the average cost to insure a family of four has grown from $11,192 to $23,215 in just 10 years!!! That is a significant impact on employer P&L. When an employer looks at decreasing cost, Health Care is seen as a fixed expense without the realization that this can be reduced. "Its amazing to learn that 55% of workers identified a workplace wellness program as an instrument in improving their overall well-being. In-fact it equates to $250 MILLION in savings in lowered health costs and a 50% reduction in high blood pressure among employees." -Gladiators Guide to Corporate Health & Wellness These numbers only crest the reality of the value of employee health. Most decisions that are made at a corporate level involve an ROI 'return on investment'. This area is a truly untapped area of an ROI.
Our approach to Corporate Wellness:
As with everything that we do, we take a unique approach to health and wellness in the workplace. As much as education is vitally important we have found that if all we do is educate it doesn't actually effect behavior. The emotional and social state of being is truly what effects behavioral changes. Therefore, in the work environment we create peer groups using social media platforms (email, private FB pages, webinars, etc.), we provide coaching support as well as strategic proprietary motivational/support forums. We always start with the leadership team, if you expect your staff to follow you in other aspects of the business, expect them to follow you in health and wellness. The employer must cultivate a healthy environment if they expect success from this or any program. What foods does your cafeteria serve? Who do you cater from for employee events? Is the leadership team following the wellness program or are they eating fast food and smoking? How does leadership view the program? When executed adequately and followed through these wellness programs will far exceed your expectations!
